When I think of some of my all-time garden experiences, it's really hard to compare to the day the concierge at the Mandarin Oriental in London swung me a ticket to the member's day at Chesea Flower Show. Talk about bucket-list stuff. I'd cross the world in a heartbeat to be able to go again.
BTW, my suite at the MO was mighty fine too. It was one of the best gigs ever because as a jobbing journo, my stays in London usually involve a wonky foldout bed in a friend's living room! I was in London this time to do a review for Luxury Travel, plus an interview and story on the then-new Heston Blumenthal restaurant, dinner. The Mandarin Oriental is right near Hyde Park, Sloane Street and across the road from Harvey Nichs. That's right! I could see HN from my window, and popped across for sushi and Champagne more than once.)
Anyway, here are the pics of my glorious stroll down the fancy stores along Sloane Street, to my day at the Chelsea Flower Show. The sun was shining, and yes, I did have a Pimms (or two!).
