Kick off spring with a gathering for the gals High Tea style. This latest offering from Penguin has over 200 sweet and savoury recipes like mini sausage rolls with plum sauce, cheese straws, sandwiches and a squashed fig slice. Names like Julie Goodwin, Stephanie Alexander, Not Quite Nigella and Eamon Sullivan have all contributed recipes. Glamazons Samantha Willis and Kyly Clarke give their tips on how to host and style up a ripper party.
There are some touching extracts from Jenny Garner and Jude Peterkin, both McGrath Foundation Breast Care Nurses, talking about their role in the community. This is the coalface and this is what the book is out to support.
I've seen first-hand the work the McGrath Foundation Breast Care Nurses do with family and friends who have been diagnosed with Breast Cancer. These lovely, informed ladies in pink are on the ward every day carefully giving information in plain language and helping to negotiate the intimidating health-care maze. They also hand out some much-needed gift bags with information and small pick-me-up gifts. It's the only time I've seen Chanel skincare in Tamworth Base Hospital that's for sure! These nurses know how to make a woman have a terrible time feel special and loved.
Buy the book, have a high tea brimming with bubbles and get your pals to donate a bit more to the McGrath Foundation here.
