This morning my boys got up with the sun and made hot cross buns. It's easy and fun but requires #patience for the #rising, hence I stay well clear!
This recipe came from taste.com.au, but of course I changed it a little (my husband thinks I have a Fear of Following Recipes - like a tick). I added more mixed fruit, citrus peel, cinnamon and mixed spice. I do wonder if a smidge of cardamom, and a sourdough base might be on the drawing board for next year?
Allow 2-3 hours, depending on how pillowy you want the buns. I doubled the mixture, so we have some for tomorrow as well.
