What to Pack: The Tote

I like a tote that closes shut (hate spillages!) to carry all my stuff when I travel.

Here's what I carry in my handbag when I fly:

  • Soft wool/cashmere scarf that doubles as a blanket. (Try light-as-a-feather luxe Everyday Cashmere or sassind. Blue woollen sassind scarf pictured)
  • Passport case (to hold tickets, insurance etc)
  • Noise-cancelling headphones with spare batteries, and plane attachment
  • Fess saline and eucalyptus nasal spray (to keep the lurgies at bay)
  • Hand sanitiser
  • Lavender spray ( I make this myself using essential oil and spray bottle from the pharmacy)
  • Face wipes
  • Casual Tote. (Try Country Road for a classic selection).
  • Reading glasses
  • Sunglasses (for arrivals)
  • Notebook/travel diary (for inspo jottings)
  • Novel/s. (I take one, but always buy others at the airport so in truth I carry at least three. Ridiculous, I know, right?)
  • Mobile, phone charger, batteries, and adaptor
  • Laptop (except on holidays when it is a computer-fee zone)
  • Destination Guide/Notes (I love checking the local Time Out for every city, and the compact print Luxe City Guides)
  • Water bottle (stay hydrated!)
  • Toothbrush and toothpaste/ chewing gum (to keep clean)
  • Compression socks (just in case.)
