Is your book club reading one of Kirsty’s books?

If so, she’d love to be part of your book club discussion—in person, if you live in Melbourne, or via Skype if you are further away.

Note: we suggest booking early as Kirsty gets pretty booked up (and is also trying to be more organised in 2020!)

Kirsty doesn’t charge to attend book clubs as long as all participants purchase the book (hard copy or kindle—either is fine).

The typical book club format:

Kirsty arrives (or Skypes/Zooms in) 30 minutes after everyone else — to give everyone a chance to catch up, get a drink, and maybe have an initial chat about the book. It is up to the book club to arrange the Zoom/Skype link and send it to Kirsty.
Kirsty talks for a short time (5 – 10 minutes) about her inspiration for the book.
She opens up the discussion to the group. This usually mimics a regular book club discussion, where people share their thoughts about the book, talk about why the book did or didn’t resonate. This is also the time people can ask her questions.
Kirsty stays for 30-45 minutes and then heads off, leaving you guys to relax and chat (and finish that wine!)

It is helpful to have one person in the group acting as a convenor, to help guide the discussion, to bring conversation back to the book if it starts to wander off. This helps to make the most of the time that Kirsty is there.
It is a good idea to ask people to have a think about questions they’d like to ask prior to the event, as good questions make for a great dynamic discussion. People also are free to share their own stories if they are comfortable doing so.
Kirsty is happy to answer questions about anything—-the book, the writing / publishing process, covers, titles, work life balance … anything people want to talk about.
If Kirsty has prior warning, she is happy to bring previous books along to sell, or sign books that have already been purchased.
Rather than getting her a bottle of wine or bunch of flowers, Kirsty would love it if all members of the book club posted an honest review about her book on Amazon or Goodreads, or posted about the book on social media. If nothing else … tell a friend. Word of mouth is the best way to sell books and there is no better way to say thank you than this.
